Hello! Well, unfortunately I haven't been able to blog like I thought I might be able to, but I guess that's a good thing, right? In any case, it's extremely difficult to write a blog on a cell phone, so I won't be blogging like I thought I would be. I will say, though, that London has been fantastic, and I am looking forward to coming back in the near future! Unfortunately, my time in London is over, but I am heading to Brussels, Belgium in the morning! Chocolate and waffles, here I come! Cheerio, London! Thanks for being such a jolly good show!

London Calling!

Hey Everyone! You may (or may not) already know that I am headed to LONDON for the 2012 Summer Olympics! I'm going to be seeing a variety of events over the course of the time I'm there (August 1-11), in addition to seeing some of the sights London has to offer. I'm also heading to Belgium, Luxembourg and France since countries in Europe are so close together. I leave tonight, July 31st, and will return to America (YAY!) on Thursday, August 23rd. If you'd like to know what I'm up to on any given day, you can go to my blog at daniellegoestoplaces.blogspot.com - I'll do my best to keep it updated; not sure how much access I'll have to a computer while I'm away. The best way to contact me (if you must) would be to email me at this address (popedanielle@gmail.com), and I also have an awesome App now to receive free text messages when I'm around WiFi! The number is (330)931-3252. Feel free to also leave me comments on my blog! And of course, there's always twitter at @the_popester and Instagram at The_Popester. Look for me on television! I'll be one of the crazy people you see with their face painted and banner waving! GO USA! :-)

Talk Talk Talk

Working at the Grand Ole Opry House, you meet a bunch of people from all over the world. Today, a lovely lady came in looking for a ticket to the show on Tuesday. I showed her the best available, and we agreed on a ticket. Meanwhile, she told me she was visiting from England on holiday, and would've stayed longer or come earlier if her dentist appointments had been changed. I asked her where in England she was from, and she told me Manchester, about two hours away from London.

I told her that I was going to London for the Olympics in August, and she was so excited to hear that! She asked me what events I had tickets to, and I told her football, basketball, and tennis. I told her our tennis was at Wimbeldon and she was happy to hear it was there, because she had been to the men's semifinal match this past time. I told her about Wembley Stadium and having tickets to football there. She told me about a show she went to with Reba at Wembley Arena, and she had paid £100 for a ticket, and it was ridiculously loud. It was a festival, so she said it was kind of worth it, but her hotel was full of footballers because there was a match at Wembley Stadium close by. She didn't like it because they were loud and vulgar, but I told her I probably would've liked it. ;) It was her birthday, so she wanted to have a nice dinner, but couldn't because of all of the chaos at her hotel.

Anyway, the conversation ended with her being happy that I was visiting her country, and then she took out $10 and slipped it to me and said, "Have a drink on me when you're in London. Enjoy your time!" I told her I couldn't accept it, but she insisted. I felt bad taking it, but she was adamant in me having this money. She told me that things were going to be too expensive, and I would be lucky to be able to buy one drink with the $10 she gave me. So, I accepted it, thanked her, and gave her my contact information. I told her if she was planning on being in London during the Olympics at all, to contact me and we could have a drink together. I hope she will! :)

Here We Go Again...

I really can't believe it's been 4 years since Beijing, China! Lucky for me, this time around the Olympics are in LONDON, ENGLAND!!! Somewhere that speaks my language. I'm so excited, really! I attempted to learn Chinese, but WOW that is a difficult language. I'm pretty sure I only learned how to count to 6, and say "My name is" so it wasn't that great of a help.

Megan and I got tickets to several events in the 11 days we're going to be in England. Originally, we were just going to be there 8 days, but we got some more tickets, including the gold medal match for football (or soccer, in American terms)! So, we'll be spending 3 extra days there and I'm not upset about it one bit. Unfortunately, we had already booked our hotel, so we'll either have to contact them to see if we can add some days, or find somewhere else to stay!

We got tickets to basketball, fencing, tennis (at Wimbeldon, Centre Court!), beach volleyball, taekwondo, synchronized swimming, and wrestling - none of which I went to in China. I'm still pissed there's no softball (or baseball for that matter), but we get to see new things.

After London, we're going to head to Belgium for a day, then Luxembourg, before we head to Paris! We'll spend a few days in Paris, then head to the south of France. Cannes, Monte Carlo, and Nice... where we'll see MADONNA. I can't believe it myself!

I booked my flight the other day to London, which, thanks to Megan and her generosity of giving me her flight miles for my birthday, I only had to pay taxes on it! I've yet to book my flight back to the states, so I might just stay there and get a job. But in all actuality, I've been looking at flights, and it's possible that I might fly through Iceland and make a pit stop there. When would I ever go there? I just don't know that 1) I have the money to really do what I want, and 2) I keep adding things I want to do and it might be too much on my plate?

I'll keep this blog updated as I go places on road trips, plane rides, and across the pond. Ready for the next adventure- let's get crazy!
