I took Thursday off of work to get my shots for China. I had been researching the CDC website with the help of Megan telling me what I needed, so I made sure the doctor had them all before I went. Hepatitis A, Tetanus, and Typhoid. It was a big ordeal because none of my medical records are here in Tennessee, so when I had a copy of my Hepatitis B and Tetanus shots from 2000, they insisted that I must've had my Hep A shots along with the Hep B. I had to call my Mom who left work to run home to view all of my records. She faxed them over to the doc... no Hep A. They looked at my MMR booster also, so that wasn't needed.
I told the nurse practitioner that I needed Hep A, Tetanus and Typhoid, and she said I didn't need the Typhoid. I told her it was recommended on the CDC website, so she looked, and I was right. I got my Tetanus shot in my right arm, Hepatitis A in my left arm, and a prescription for a Typhoid pill vaccine that I have to take every other day for four days. They told me my arms would be sore, but I didn't know it would hurt THAT much! My right arm is STILL killing me 4 days later! Hopefully it'll feel better tomorrow... I tried to get my Typhoid pill at Walgreens, and they said they would have to order it, because it's not available (well, I figured people just don't carry typhoid pills around in the pharmacy) but said it would be there in about a day. They still aren't in, so hopefully they'll be done tomorrow before I get on my plane to Arizona!
